The metallic caddis works a wonder on rivers like the Tongariro or any other river where caddis are a huge part of the trouts diet. At times I have seen trout so full of green caddis you really wonder why they took your fly. Their stomachs were almost distended with caddis. Tip. After a flood caddis are washed free in big numbers.
