Black Burgler

3 reward points

The Black Burgler Fly was created by George Gatchell who owned the Crystal Brook Fly Shop on the banks of the Waitahanui River, Lake Taupo. About 1985 George showed me this pattern and then tied me some for a keepsake and I must see if I can find them.
He would often fish these in the rip where the river joins the lake which was immediately across the road from his shop. As he experimented with different colours the locals called him a burgler as he caught all the fish hence the name of the fly. George also tied this fly in different colours but I have lost track of those.
