Simmons Attractor. This is one fly you need in your fly box over the summer in New Zealand. If I had to fish only one fly this is it.
Reports also tell us it works big time in Australia and Alaska. Fish cannot resist this fly in fast water or on still water. I used it in Mongolia and it was sensational on Lenok.
Many NZ guides just use this fly exclusively from late Jan to early April.
This was a pattern in Umpquas catalogue (renamed Alan's attractor) but due to new ownership this pattern and others were deleted, even though it was a best seller.
It is called an attractor because fish come from miles to eat it or at least look at it. Also works at other times of the year such as early Dec or during lace moth hatches in April.
Only in size 8 as that is the most effective size. Use on heavy leader or it will spin on soft light leaders.
On still waters cast it in front of the fish and just move it a fraction to get the fishes attention and then leave it dead.
